Increasing efficiency and accuracy

as well as reducing the time required to create daily and monthly production balances in the refining industry. The Bilans expert system has been designed to assist daily and monthly production balancing, recording and reporting in the refining industry. The history of the system dates back to the 1990s, when the first versions were implemented at the Gdansk Refinery Plant.

The computational core of the System

uses proprietary computational algorithms based on mathematical models of graph theory and adapted to the specificity of the technology of crude oil product manufacture. The model of technological processes is configured by the system users and can contain any number of balance nodes, which in practice number in the thousands. Years of the development of the system have resulted in the creation of a dedicated multi-module expert system of advisory type, which effectively supports business processes in the department of accounting and production analysis of the Gdańsk Refinery.

Continuous cooperation

with the Rafineria Gdańska Sp. z o.o. ensures ongoing development of the system. New modules are thus created, whereas the existing ones are supplemented with new functionalities designed and implemented by interdisciplinary teams of specialists from the Rafineria Gdańska Sp. z o.o. and Infoster. The Bilans system is regularly updated so that the software meets security regulations and is equipped with the latest stable IT technologies.

The Balance Expert System

is a scalable and modular software. It consists of a number of independent programs (modules) using a common Database. The system contains four core modules:

Balance Modules

  1. Mass Balance – the main analytical programme that solves the balance graph alignment problem. This model of technological process provides the most faithful representation of the media mass flow pattern under conditions of statistical measurement errors, in the absence of some measurements and with technological adjustments introduced by the operator.
  2. Structure Balance - continuously calculates material structures of product tanks and pipelines and finished products.
  3. MRP: (Monthly Production Settlement) - versatile software that allows defining of a number of settlement tables, relationships between them and of calculation algorithms, particularly when using the Python programming language embedded in the software. In addition, the MRP enables designing reports and supports business analyses of monthly and daily settlements of refinery production.
